Mr. Kumar is well known Hispanist and Entrepreneur and it is expected that his presence would provide direction to many students who are interested in making a career out of Spanish language.

The abstract of the talk is given below

The communication explosion of the 90s has helped in the rapid growth of activities involving globalization, internationalization, localization and translation (GILT). These GILT activities have created unprecedented dynamism in economic, social and cultural activities across the globe. India being one of the major players has undergone revolutionary changes within its economic, social and cultural systems giving way to Informational Technology and BPO boom. The steady economic growth and reforms have helped Indian economy attract record inflow of FDI and joint ventures creating demand for language consumption in local languages as well as foreign languages. Languages being essential tool of communication have also undergone fundamental changes in order to be part of essential determinants of economic changes, therefore, language learning is not merely a natural acquiring process rather it has become specialized field that needs professional training and technological integration.
Given the situation with job market is rapidly becoming internationalized, it becomes important for an individual to learn at least one or two international languages than mother tongue or the language of education. In the Indian context, as per the estimate presented by National Knowledge Commission the demand for multi-lingual content is so high that it has potential to generate approximately 5,00,000 jobs in India.

Traditionally, apart from English, French and German have been more popular languages of learning in India because of historical, economic and bilateral relations with French and German speaking countries.
On account of growing relations of India with Spain and Latin American countries, and subsequent demand generated by BPO´s stationed in India catering to these markets, the Spanish language has gained considerable degree of importance.

With above, my talk will highlight various characteristics of popular foreign languages including French, German and Spanish followed by available job opportunities and avenues with focus on Spanish language.

The presentation will end with question – answer sessions and career counseling to individuals
